Railroad Bridge - Cape Cod

As you embark on a journey through the Cape Cod Canal, the first thing that captures your attention is its impeccable design. This waterway, created by extensively digging and dredging across the base of Cape Cod, witnessed immense labor and expertise to turn it into a navigable passage for a diverse range of ships. Our first encounter is met with the Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge coming into view. This towering vertical lift bridge, reminiscent of a bygone era, immediately captures our attention. The anticipation builds as we watch, mesmerized, and pass gracefully beneath.

Continuing our voyage, we soon come upon the Bourne Bridge, an elegant arched bridge connecting Cape Cod to the mainland. Its staggering height reaching heavenward, creating a web of interconnected paths that allow us to journey onward. As we pass beneath, the sheer size of the bridge becomes apparent, as if it was a behemoth standing over us, protecting our passage. The boat glides effortlessly beneath the embraces of its span, and we feel almost shielded from the outside world. The sound of the boat's hull gently slicing through the water echoes against the hum of the engine, ensuring a peaceful and introspective moment under this monumental gateway.

Sagamore Bridge - Cape Cod

As we sail further along the canal, we come to the Sagamore Bridge, the sight of the third and final bridge, and deja vu sets upon us. As we glided through the crystal-clear bay of Cuttyhunk Pond, the gentle sound of the waves cascading against Spirit’s hull created a symphony of serenity. We felt carried by the gentle sea breeze, as we relished the serendipity of experiencing this moment in time, just the two of us. Stepping onto the dock, our feet felt the firmness of the dock, grounding us in the present. The scent of salt lingered in the air, intermingling with the subtle fragrance of a tide left behind. We strolled hand in hand toward a charming lobster shack, its rustic exterior a welcoming sight against the backdrop of the indigo evening. We placed our order, opting for the freshest of lobsters, and marveled at the intricacies of this age-old tradition. With our treasure secured, we gently placed the precious cargo into a bag, embracing their fleeting presence as we carried them back to the dinghy. Our romantic voyage continued, fueled by a sense of anticipation and the pure joy of being on the water.
