Annapolis Sailboat Show 2023

Annapolis, MD

KINDNESS comes to explore the Annapolis Sailboat Show. Sailing KINDNESS was included as one of the 2023 YouTube Sailing Channels as part of the Cruiser Creating Content booth.

Annapolis Sailboat Show

The Annapolis Sailboat Show is an annual show held in Annapolis, Maryland. It is one of the largest in-water boat shows in the world and features hundreds of new boats and yachts from around the world. The show also includes a wide variety of marine-related gear, accessories, and apparel, as well as seminars and educational opportunities. The show typically takes place in Mid October following the Powerboat Show and lasts for four days.

We had a fantastic time attending the sailboat show, and are very grateful for the opportunity. A big shout out to Jeff Bach and his crew for making all the cruisers creating content feel so special. So many opportunities to build relationships and friendships that will last a lifetime. We also had the pleasure of meeting other cruisers and saying hello to old acquaintances. Lastly, we would like to express our appreciation to all our followers who make this possible. We love creating content that brings people to places they may not get to on their own, and thank you so much for joining us on our journey to discover just how small this world really is, one anchorage at a time.

Annapolis

Annapolis, Maryland is the state capital of Maryland and a historic seaport city located on the Chesapeake Bay. It is known for its colonial-era buildings, a cobblestone Main Street lined with boutiques and restaurants, and of course, the United States Naval Academy. Visitors can experience the city’s maritime heritage at the Annapolis Maritime Museum, tour the Maryland State House, visit the Naval Academy and explore the city’s many parks and gardens. The city also hosts major annual events, such as the Annapolis Powerboat Show and the Annapolis Sailboat Show.

Naval Academy

While in Annapolis we took the opportunity to visit the United States Naval Academy. The campus itself was incredible, with sprawling green lawns, grand buildings, and a rich history that we could feel as soon as we stepped onto the grounds. The academy was filled with cadets and midshipmen in the iconic navy dress uniforms, which made the visit even more special.

As we traversed the grounds, we saw the famous chapel, the massive library, and the Bancroft Hall dormitory. We also had the opportunity to explore the museum, which contained artifacts and stories from the Navy's illustrious past. There were even model ships made out of bones by some prisoners of war. Another interesting fact they have a piece of moon rock because Alan Shepard Jr was a Naval Aviator before becoming an astronaut.

Overall, it was an incredible experience that we will never forget. We are so thankful for the opportunity to explore the US Naval Academy and learn more about its history.

Weems Creek

Weems Creek in West Annapolis is a great spot to anchor and explore the area. With quaint shops and restaurants in walking distance, it is an ideal location to anchor your boat and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city. The nearby Tucker Boat Ramp makes it easy to land your dinghy and explore the area. It is a 15 minute walk to catch the bus to the show or to enjoy a Navy game at the Stadium, and a grocery store and pharmacy are also in walking distance. Downtown Annapolis is a 15 minute bike ride away. Weems Creek has great holding and is relatively calm as an anchorage, although occasionally there are some wakes, and you can often watch the Navy crew teams practicing.
